We're so glad we met you!
About the 2016 Workshop
This year, the workshop was co-hosted by ʔaq̓am and INAC, and focused on the theme of "Youth Empowerment." Communities were encouraged to invite a youth (18-30 years old) who is involved and/or interested in planning for the future. There were sessions on how to best engage youth and ensure their voices are reflected in the vision. The goal of incorporating youth into the dialogue was a success, with a Youth Dialouge presenting back to the plenary on what they had learned. Missed the workshop but still want the presentation slides, check them out here.
Workshop sessions covered topics like Youth Engagement through the Arts, Tools and Resources to Support Planners and Implementation and Measuring Success. Communities with completed CCPs presented their community stories with a Pecha Kucha style presentation. Participants were involved in many interactive and networking opportunities and had the opportunity of participating in a cultural night hosted by ʔaq̓am. Mentors and Mentee's had an opportunity to meet face to face to begin to work together.
This Year's Innovation!
For the first time, we offered a pre-workshop session on Monday October 17, 2016 called CCP 101: a crash course. The pre-workshop session provided the basics on how to get you started on your CCP journey through a series of case studies, group discussions, role plays and, and visual material. This course is a must for any new CCP Coordinator or those who feel the need to brush up on some of the basics. Interested in attending the next course, make sure you're added to the invitation list here.
In partnership with ʔaq̓am there was a cultural tour (and a storyteller). We were also pleased to add a Social Media component to encourage dialogue before, during and after the workshop.
Who Attends?
Every year, about 100 delegates representing over 50 First Nations attend the workshop. If you are interested in attending the 2017 CCP Workshop make sure you are added to the invitation list here. If you are interested in attending as a Marketplace vendor, check out our Marketplace section for more information.
