Every year, hundreds of First Nations community planners gather to share stories, take part in training, and strengthen the CCP network across Canada...
Annual CCP workshops began in British Columbia, but now take place in several other regions including the Yukon, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, and the Atlantic region. The first ever National CCP Workshop was held in Winnipeg in 2017, bringing together Indigenous planners from across the country. These workshops, which are typically held over two-three days, are led by planners with hands-on community planning experience.
Workshop sessions cover topics like CCP 101: Getting Started, Community Engagement, Planning as Healing Process, Integrating the CCP with other Plans, and Implementation: Moving the Plan into Action. Communities that have done CCPs also share their community stories, and participants take part in many interactive activities and networking opportunities.
