March 2023 BC CCP Workshop

We look forward to seeing you in person at the March 2023 BC Region CCP Workshop!

CCP Workshop Poster
CCP Workshop Agenda
Every year, First Nations from across BC (and beyond!) come together to share lessons learned and best practices around Comprehensive Community Planning (CCP) in their communities. Join us for this in-community two-day workshop to learn more about how to make CCP work with your community.

CCP Coordinators, Planners, Administrators, Leadership, and Youth from BC First Nations interested involved in CCP are invited to come together to:
  • Learn how to lead a successful CCP process
  • Share planning stories and lessons learned
  • Ask questions and find support
  • Get inspired!

For those who prefer a virtual option, we also will be live streaming a number of the plenary sessions.

Planning for Change

This year’s workshop theme is “Planning for Change.” In addition to all of the sessions around the CCP basics, we will explore the ways in which planning has changed over the last few years - everything from how we are engaging members to responding to climate realities to rebuilding wellness in our people. First Nation-to-First Nation learning and capacity building are the anchoring principles of this workshop. Facilitators and presenters are experienced planners from a wide range of backgrounds and communities across the province.

Travel and Accommodation

TRavel and Accommodation Guidelines
Stz'uminus First Nation is a short taxi ride away from the Nanaimo Airport or a 20-minute drive from downtown Nanaimo. Bus transportation between the workshop hotel (Microtel Inn & Suites) and Stz'uminus Community School will be provided in the morning and late afternoon on March 22 and 23. Travel and accommodation reimbursement is available to support one participant per BC First Nation (up to a maximum of $700). We are able to welcome a limited number of participants from outside of BC, but are unable to cover their travel and accommodation expenses.

The official workshop hotel, the Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Oyster Bay, is now nearly full for the workshop dates. You can call them at 1 (250) 912-9000 to ask about current availability. Alternate accommodation in the area can be found at the Kiwi Cove Lodge and Raven Point Inn. We can arrange for the bus to stop near these alternate accommodations based on participant request.
