Here is some information about the mentors who are supporting CCP work.
Cara is Secwépemc with lineage to the Bonaparte and Esk’etemc communities. As a Health Planner and Facilitator with Sanala Planning Inc., Cara strives to bring together all perspectives and knowledges to improve health and wellness outcomes for Indigenous Peoples. Cara is currently completing a Master of Arts with UBCO and resides in Tk’emlups te Secwépemc territory.

Shirley-Pat is a woman of mixed heritage and is Tl'esqox na whelh deni heelen (adoptee of Tl'esqox). She brings 20+ years of leadership, community planning and development, fund development, grant writing, project management, facilitation, teaching, and mentorship experience to her work. She completed her PhD at the University of Edinburgh, is a proud member of the Rotary Club of Steveston and received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Award in 2012 for outstanding volunteerism.

Joyce is a Tŝilhqot’in Matriarch and Knowledge Keeper. She understands that she was born before her time, as the knowledge, language, and songs were handed down orally by strong women of her family. Joyce has taken this knowledge to teach or assist in protecting ancestral lands. She served eight years as a representative at the Economic, Justice, Social table and led their logging company into a land use plan to protect sensitive areas. Joyce finished her grade 12 while in leadership, raising her three children and several Foster Children.

Sandra is of the Laksilyu Clan from the Wet’suwet’en Nation and a member of the Witset First Nation. She is an indigenous community developer, working towards eco-social wellbeing, suitable housing, indigenous food sovereignty, community and watershed planning. Sandra is also an Indigenous Focusing Complex Trauma (IFOT) and REIKI practitioner working with health, social, emergency supports, justice workers, families and elders. She provides cultural supports to families impacted by MMIWG and Indian residential school survivors.

Andrew is an Architect specializing in community development. He has worked extensively with all levels of government, private sector, and grass roots organizations in the UK, Canada, and Africa over the last 30 years. For the last decade, Andrew has worked for First Nations developing community plans and a range of renewable energy, food security, cultural, and economic development projects. He enjoys finding ways to transform visions into reality while incorporating culture, values, traditions, and long-term sustainability.

Dana belongs to the Ts’aahl Haida Eagle Clan of Kaay’Llaanas and is of Haida and Musqueam descent. She works as the Executive Director for the Haida Heritage Centre and Gwaalagaa Naay Corporation. Dana also worked as a Casting Director, Production Manager, 2nd Assistant Director and now a Screening Coordinator for the film “Edge of the Knife”, an Indigenous film, entirely in the Haida Language. She has been a mentor for the past 10 years, supporting comprehensive community planning, land use planning, and project planning.

Cici is a member of the Gitxsan Nation, located on the Upper Skeena River. She received her MBA in 2013 from the University of Northern British Columbia, formalizing her 15 years of senior management experience. Since 2013, Cici has worked in band management, governance, and community planning to establish stable financial positions, build effective teams, and manage successful programs with Indigenous communities. Cici is now working for the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) as a Commercial Account Manager, Indigenous Markets.
