Sometimes you just need a helping hand...
At the CCP Workshop in 2011, Andrew Moore, a participant from T'Sou-ke Nation, said "what would it look like to have a program where experienced CCP'ers could mentor other communities that were struggling?" And with that, the CCP Mentorship Initiative was born!
Who are the mentors?
There are eight experienced Comprehensive Community Planners from communities across BC who are available to share their knowledge and skills. Communities that are just getting started with their CCPs, or communities that are further along and in need of support, can request to have a CCP mentor assigned to them. Check out the amazing CCP mentors' profiles here.
How does it work?
CCP mentorship is available at no cost to any BC First Nation completing a CCP, whether the community is receiving CCP funding from ISC or not. Mentors and mentees are generally paired on a 1-on-1 basis, but sometimes it makes more sense to have two mentors work with a small group. Please note this resource is available to community members or staff, but is not intended for consultants.
Can we work together in person?
Mentors are available to work virtually, as well as to make a limited number of trips to the community. They can support the local CCP process in lots of ways, including doing some training with the CCP Coordinator, presentations at council, staff, or community meetings, or whatever else may be needed by the community (not including on-going project management that is better provided by a project coordinator).
